Originally from China, Jasmine moved to New Zealand in 2014 to pursue her studies. After earning her Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Canterbury, Jasmine followed her passion for fire engineering, which she discovered during her final-year course through a specialized fire engineering paper.
This newfound interest motivated her to continue her studies, and she successfully completed a Master of Engineering Studies endorsed in Fire Engineering, in 2022. Shortly after graduating, Jasmine embarked on her professional journey with Nelligan Consulting Engineers, joining the team in May of the same year.
As a fire engineer, Jasmine plays a key role in delivering engineering design using both Acceptable Solutions and the Verification Method. These design methods have been applied to various projects, including residential, commercial and industrial buildings. She has also gained experience in modelling by utilizing software including B-Risk, Fire, Pathfinder and FDS during her time on these projects to provide efficient fire safety designs for complex problems.
Jasmine prides herself on ensuring the fire safety requirements are met while achieving the client’s vision for the project. As a new professional, she brings some fresh perspectives and is eager to develop her skills further and make a meaningful contribution to the fire engineering community.
Outside of work, Jasmine enjoys playing badminton and exploring her new home, New Zealand.
